The Jesus Film
The
first day of winter here in Zambia has arrived, plus or minus a day. It is a big day Mapanza. The Rosemont team has spent their time this
week teaching True Love Waits and walking through village inviting Zambians to
come view The Jesus Film tonight at 18 hours (that is Zambian speak for 6 PM-noon Lagrange Time). The film will actually start at 6:30 PM, but
time here is flexible so Wes and Blu built in 30 minutes of time for those who
arrive late. The entire team will help
set up the equipment in a local village and then stand by with interpreters to
be counselors for those who have questions are have been impacted by the
film. Lynne is staying back to milk
Martha. Normally Noah, our Zambian
worker, milks in the afternoons. Lynne volunteered
to milk for him if he and his new wife would attend the Jesus film. Kalenga our cook and musician is needed as a
counselor and interpreter, so I am staying back to wash dinner dishes so he is
free to go. PLEASE PRAY EARNESTLY THAT GOD MOVES IN THE VILLAGES TONIGHT. This is the first time most of these people
will hear the Gospel. It will certainly
the first time any of them have seen a movie.
Traditional religion (witch doctors) is still prevalent in Zambia, so
please pray a hedge around the village where the movie is being shown.
Monday we leave for
Livingstone with the team for some relaxation time. Lynne and I have selected to go on a safari
in Botswana. It will break up our time
here in Zambia, although we love being here and will miss it when we are
home. Thanks again for the notes of
encouragement.
My Bible
study with Kalenga went well this morning.
We did a study of Matthew 6 and Philippians 4:6-7. When we finished I mentioned one of the
local Zambians. My description of
Patrick included that Wes had disciple him.
Kalenga looked at me and said, “and you are discipling me! I thank God that He sent you from afar to
teach me the Scriptures!” I was humbled,
to say the least.
Tomorrow
is Kid’s Club. We will have close to 100
Zambian children on the campus. Pray for
the Rosemont team as they play, teach and minister to these children. Activities will start at 3 PM Zambian time (9a.m.
Lagrange time). Not sure who from the
team is teaching and preaching Sunday morning, but God does. They would surely appreciate you intercessory
prayer as they step out on faith and teach/preach through an interpreter.
It was
science Friday in the school. We made
carbon dioxide fire extinguishers and launched Fizzie Fliers (film containers
with water and alka seltzer). Some of
the students notice the cone-shaped holes in the dirt, and we had a discussion
about Ant Lions and Tiger Beetles after the rocket launch. I had fun, the teachers had fun, and the
smiles on the student’s faces told me they had fun.
Miss all
of you. Don’t miss the heat!!! Loving this Zambian winter.
