Bible
study with Kalanga today did not go as I expected it to go, but God had a
plan. My plan was we would take a
passage of Scripture and separately study it using the ABC method. Each morning we would compare notes and
discuss the passage. Kalanga did not
understand what I had planned. So I
taught the passage to him. Our passage
today was Romans 8:28-30. Check it out
and you will see the challenge I faced, but God brought me through (Jeremiah
1:5-8 was actually a passage we referenced in our discussion). Now that I know I will be leading Kalanga in
a Bible study I can prepare better.
Yesterday
our study was earlier in Romans 8 when Paul talks about the Holy Spirit
interceding for us when we don’t know what to pray. Kulanga share with me that when he was in Swaziland
digging for amethyst, he ran out of food once.
He had not eaten or had water in several days. Without money he could not purchase food or
water in the local town. He prayed God would
provide what he needed when he went into town without money. The store owner told him his credit was good,
and he signed an IOU for food and water.
Kalanga praised God for providing the nourishment but he was concerned
he would not be able to make good on the IOU.
He didn’t know what to pray for or how to pray about his situation. So, he talked to God about his
predicament. Kalanga said that was an
example of the Holy Spirit interceding because he found a vein of amethyst and
was able to pay off his debt and buy some credit ahead.
Tomorrow
(junza in Tonga) we are going to study Romans 12:1-2. We concluded today discussing God
predestining us to be conformed to the image (likeness) of Christ. We talked about sanctification being a
process toward that image which will not be complete until Christ returns for
us. We are going to look at being a
living sacrifice so that God can use us and conform us to His image. I covet your prayers as God works through me
to share Biblical truth with Kalenga.
I have
to say it has taken some adjusting, seeing people from Rosemont here in
Zambia. After two weeks of not seeing anybody
you recognize, it is a bit strange. They
are busy as bees. Unfortunately they are
unable to work on the Guest House because we lack sand for mixing the mortar,
or for mixing concrete to pour the footings.
We are having a spate of vehicle problems here at NDO, and are currently
down to one vehicle, the cantor. I
posted a picture of it yesterday when they were using it to shuttle people to
the villages for True Love Waits (TLW).
Mulanga is going into Choma today to get parts for fixing vehicles. Now that the water situation is resolved and
the tanks on the new tower are almost filled, we can turn our attention to
fixing vehicles. Pray for parts and
patience with the vehicle situation.
Your
prayers are being felt here in Zambia!!
Know that you share in any fruit God produces through us here in Zambia.
