Mind you own business, tend your own fire!
Back on Blogger!! At least I know the folks in Zambia can read it, even if it isn't fancy!!! We have finished our second full week of school. To say that I have been busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest would be an understatement. However, the joy of being back where God wants me this side of this Atlantic is unspeakable. Please notice the underline in that last sentence. I know in my heart that God has work for me in Zambia!! And a big part of my heart is there with the children and my friends Hilda, Abbey, Liz, Kulenga and Mulanga . . .my brothers and sisters.
Our church is having a Global Impact conference on missions this weekend. The keynote speaker is Al Jackson from Lakeview Baptist in Auburn, Alabama. Last night at the supper he preached on missions and asked us at the end to pray for how God would use us. Lynne and I are both open to WHATEVER or WHEREVER God wants us to serve. As I prayed God clearly told me that He needs me at Long Cane Middle School and has plans to use me at New Day Orphanage in Zambia. Unfortunately He didn't give any details. You have read me write here before that I felt more used of God and had more opportunities to serve God in Zambia that I have ever had in the U.S.. I am excited for the prospect of what God has in store for NDO in which He will invite me to join Him.
My 7th grade students are currently working on Autobiography Power Points. One of my girls came up to my desk to tell me about a favorite quotation of hers from a song. Basically it said, some believe in God and I go fishing, or something like that. I asked her if she meant she did not believe in God. She told me that is not what it meant, and that she did believe in God. I asked her if that was enough. She asked me, "enough for what?" I asked her if that was enough to get her to heaven. She said yes. I quoted James 2:19 for her, "You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror." You just stared. I asked her what she believed differently from the demons. Her eyes lit up and a huge smile covered her face as she told me she understood, and she had that taken care of. You are probably wondering if I followed up asking if she had assurance of her salvation. I have know this young lady for two years in my classroom, seen how she conducts herself, and how she treats others, and had some very serious conversations with her. I know she has Christ in her heart. But, that won' t stop me from asking her directly.
I have really missed Nala and Max. They are such sweethearts. We have two cats here in LaGrange, but neither is as affectionate as these two. Would love to have five minutes of Max napping silently on my shoulder. A few minutes of Nala snoring would be music to my ears. If you are reading this Deb, give them both a hug for me!!
