From August 5 "My Favorite Tree in Georgia"

PictureThis is my favorite tree in Georgia.  You can see it if you drive down Robertson Road (between Hamilton Road and Lower Big Springs Road.   I have taken more sunrise photographs from this spot that I have "really" lost count.   About four years ago, Mr. Vaughn tore down the metal hay shed that blocked this view from the road.  I have had White-tailed does stop and watch me take photographs, and very often have the local Meadowlark to serenade me while I enjoy the sunrise.  As always, the passage from Ecclesiastes comes to my that was made into my favorite hymn, "Great is Thy Faithfulness."    Sunrise reminds me that God's mercies are new and fresh every morning.  Had a great conversation with God this morning while He used my favorite tree as the centerpiece of his masterpiece.

It was registration day at Long Cane Middle School today.   You might say it is the longest day of the school year in some respects.  I enjoy getting to meet parents and seeing my sons and daughters that I have missed over the summer!  Very often I have parents of new 6th grade students who stop by to ask about my class.  I had three sets of parents stop by to find out what happens in my class.  Katlin and Megan, sisters, stopped by for a hug and to chat.  Megan is an 8th grader and Katilin is a junior in high school.  Love them both as if they were really my daughters.
Met with my discipleship group this past Sunday.  Jeff and Eddie graciously meet with me on Sunday afternoons to discuss our readings and answers to the David Platt/Francis Chan book Multiply Movement.  The study has been encouraging, educational, and above all humbling.   We are currently in a chapter on studying the Bible.   Sunday the topic was "Studying the Bible Prayerfully and Obediently."   The quote from the book that stuck with us all was, "If you find yourself studying the Bible without applying what you have learned, then you are misusing the Bible."  OUCH!!!!  Yeah that one hurt!  One of the questions in the study was to list all of the commands in the Bible you have read, studied or heard preached.   You know where that is going!!!

There we are beside "Deb's" hut at NDO.    Blu and I discussed what it would cost to build a hut at NDO during our harrowing trip to Lusaka from Choma (remember the cannibal talk?).  We also discussed maybe raising the walls and roof to create storage.  God has really laid this on my heart.  I am hungry to return to NDO next summer, if they will have us.  However, I am also motivated to fund and build a hut there.  Praying earnestly about this.  Covet your thoughts, prayers, etc.
