Opportunity, Perspective, and The Late Night Chicken Raid
Now if all my golden moments could be rolled into one,
They would shine just like the sun for a summer day.
And after it was over, we could have it back again.
With credit to the editor for striking out the rain very clean.
And all it really needed was the proper point of view.
No one's gonna bring me down, no one's gonna stop me now.
Now I gathered up my sorrows and I sold the all for gold,
and I gathered up the gold and I threw it all away.
It all went for a good time and a song, come on.
The laughter was like music, it did float for soul along for a while.
And all it really needed was the proper point of view.
-Golden Moments by James Taylor
I am a big fan of James Taylor's music, but not his politics. The lyrics above are from one of my favorite albums of his called In the Pocket The hyperlink above will take you to YouTube and the song with lyrics. So why I am sharing those lyrics. First let me share the new opportunity I have for ministry.
Last Fall I started the ESOL endorsement classes to earn the Professional Learning Units I need to re-certify in 2016 (probably the last time before I retire). Around January/February I started hearing rumors about a possible ESOL opening in Troup County (where I live and teach). I began to ask questions, explore the possibilities and polish my resume. Certainly there was a lot of prayer along the way, and each time the Holy Spirit would tell me to "Stay Calm and Love Linguistics." (I refer you back to my blog posts titled Winds of Change and What's going on with the Ninas Family.) So let's fast forward to the last three weeks.
June 28th I finished my ESOL endorsement classes. I still had not been interviewed for the open ESOL position. I wasn't worried about the job, I was concerned about my principal having time to hire someone for my Technology Education position before school starts. The Sunday after my last class day, I sent an e-mail to all of the folks who had assisted me during the classes, including the person who hires for the ESOL program. Monday morning I received a call asking if I was available on a certain date and time for an interview. "Why yes I am!" The interview was on a Tuesday, and it went well I thought. The day after the interview I received a call offering me the ESOL position, which I accepted. The kicker was that I will continue to teach Technology Education until my principal hires someone to take my teaching job! What???
HOLD THAT THOUGHT!
I have been looking for a new devotional and stumbled upon a free devotional through Book Bub.
