We are into March and the time we depart for Zambia in June . . . well it seems as if it is quickly approaching and as if it will never get here. Excited about the opportunity to serve and meet these children in person after studying their faces online. However, there is trepidation about this adventure. A line from Steven Curtis Chapman comes to mind, "saddle up your horses, we've got a trail to lay, through the wild blue yonder of God's amazing grace." The red tag to the right is what Collins Maps tells me is Mapanza. Lusaka is northeast and Livingstone is southwest.
Found a reasonably priced birding field guide for Zambia. You know when you are looking at books for birding in southern Africa on Amazon, there are not a lot of reviews. Most of the in depth field guids are old and expensive. This "pocket" guide had good reviews for the four people who reviewed. Only down side is that the raptors are pictured perched and not in flight. I can deal with that problem. Will be spending most of my time working and not dedciated bird watching. This will suffice.
Starting the discipleship study "Multiply" by Francis Chan and David Platt with a couple of guys from Rosemont Baptist. Covet your prayers. Don't buy it, you can download the PDF at the link I provided above. It is 24 weeks long.
I spoke with my record label today (Charlie Warner a friend and substitute teacher at Long Cane Middle). My first CD is almost ready for release. What!!!! Charlie subs alot at LCMS, and one day he brought his portable studio to the school when he sub'd for the chorus teacher. He asked if he could record me playing and singing a couple of songs. So I banged out a few tried and ture ballads and praise songs. He took them home and combined them with percussion and bass tracks to produce my first, last, and only CD titled "What Larry Ninas Might Have Sounded Like If He had Played Live At Madison Square Gardens." The words in bold are large print on the CD cover, and the other words are normal print. I will post a picture of the cover when I get it. I could make copies and hand them out in London. Then like Slim Whitman and Zamfir I could be famous in Europe.
